This month, we had a great project putting together a training program on digital marketing for the Collaborative of the Finger Lakes. The Collaborative is an association of not-for-profit human service agencies which help people with developmental disabilities and their families.
The group represents agencies in the counties surrounding the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. The webinar was hosted at Wayne ARC and representatives from the other agencies were able to join in using web conferencing from GoToMeeting. The agencies which took part in the training series were Allegany ARC, Chemung ARC, ARC of Orleans, Seneca Cayuga ARC, Wayne ARC, Arc of Yates, Genesee ARC, The Arc of Livingston Wyoming, Arc of Monroe, Ontario ARC, Arc of Schuyler, and Arc of Steuben
Branded as our “Digital Marketing BootCamp”, this training brought together a series of email assignments and goals preparing the group for an interactive webinar held on May 22nd. The webinar was designed to introduce people in how to use effectively market themselves online using Google Analytics to measure their effectiveness. The group went over how to use and navigate Google Analytics as well as how to develop campaigns that can be measured inside of the system to help optimize their own work.
By developing a core concept of controlling keywords and understanding how to measure traffic flow into each of their websites, the agencies now have the foundations to build a powerful digital marketing strategy. We are excited to see what they come up with and it was truly inspiring to work with a group so passionate about the people they help.
Google Grants
Probably one of the largest untapped resources available is the program from Google called Google Grants. For qualifying not-for-profits this program could open up half a million dollars in available advertising for groups and organizations that need it.
We have found that most organizations are not only unaware that this funding is available, but they lack the internal knowledge to put the money to use. We hope to change that.
